Two days in Southampton to get our land-legs back, and to prepare for the next stage of our adventure. To be honest, this was not a part of the trip we really expected to be interesting. But we were wrong!
For anyone who likes American History, and especially coming from America’s Hometown, Southampton is a must-see city. The connections here to the Pilgrim’s crossing, and especially the Mayflower and Speedwell, are fascinating. I actually thought I knew a lot about the roots of the Pilgrims, but I clearly skipped over Southampton. Even the connection to the Titanic was missed by me as I prepared for this journey.
Anyway, the second we walked to the historic old city wall, we were overrun by Mayflower and Speedwell connections. And of course, this made us miss home and our French Fry Tuesday friends at Speedwell Tavern.
I could go on, but I will let our Nathaniel Morton Elementary School News reporter cover the story. Take it away Thomas!
