Now it gets real. Although we have been gone a long time, we have only been on ocean liners, hotels, or academic conference locations. And the goal of this trip was to experience “regular life” living in different countries. And now, we are about to do just that. Grocery shopping, doing laundry, eating at home, and getting around are suddenly necessary parts of daily living and things are done differently here. This is compounded by the fact that Sarah, Tommy, and I are used to small town living (insert laugh for those of you who think living in Plymouth just 40 minutes south of Boston is not small town), and our apartments for the next several months are going to be in city locations.
We took an Uber into the city and locater our apartment which was situated just outside the downtown pedestrian center of Kaiserslautern. It is not a great street, but it is just one block from a beautiful area, and a 15 minute walk to the main train station in the city.
Sarah soon found a giant shopping area with an Aldi, as well as a historic shopping area with little shops, restaurants, and churches. I think we are going to be fine!

Unfortunately the Bills did not win like I hoped in that video. But Philadelphia still won big time!
